Following the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment some promising measures have been taken in science the US. The National Academy of Sciences in Washington can now expel members who have violated its Code of Conduct, including sexual harassment, see also here.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has also introduced renewed policies to ensure that the research climate it supports is free of sexual harassment.
The new policy requires that institutions with NSF funds informs the NSF of issues related to sexual harassment committed by the NSF-funded principal investigator or co-principal investigator. Read more here.
