On June 8, rector magnificus Carel Stolker received a 'Diamond' because Leiden University is an inspiring example' in the field of male/female diversity. 'It is a matter of perseverance,' says Stolker, which yields results because we succeed, for example, in appointing more female professors.'
Athena’s Angels watch over the Board
'The university is full of portraits of 'dead men and, though we love them dearly, this isn't good for diversity,' Carel Stolker says. ‘Change is often in the small things, which is why I have arranged for the photo's of Athena's Angels to be hung in the boardroom. I believe that the Executive Board will take better decisions under the watchful eyes of these four strong female professors.'
